MCCP Frequently Asked Questions
The most frequently asked question is "Where does the money that I raise go?"
This is a great question, and at the heart of every gift that is made to the Maine Children's Cancer Program.
The short answer is that it goes towards research-based care, education, psychosocial services, outreach, advocacy, and new programs not covered by insurance or patient fees.
To go a bit more in depth, cancer care is one of the most costly forms of clinical treatment. When a child is diagnosed with cancer the entire family is affected. Both the child and the family have needs that have to be met and this is where your donation truly counts. With those needs in mind the money is used to support all of the programs listed above. The focus of the funds is for state-of-the-art equipment, as well as the three full-time social workers who provide lifetime support (if the family requests it) to the children and their families.
Thanks to the support of our sponsors, we can say that 100% of the funds that are raised by individuals impact the children and their families today. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us at 207.662.6274.
