Frequently Asked Questions: Annual Giving Program

What does my donation support?

In support of Maine Medical Center’s strategic priorities, gifts to the Annual Giving Program have accelerated advancements in:

Research – necessary infrastructure support has given our investigators the creative opportunity to make scientific breakthroughs this year. Read more about their discoveries.

Medical Education – Maine students are provided scholarship assistance to gain a medical degree in the MMC.TUSM Maine Track program. Learn more about this innovative medical program designed to benefit Maine’s future health.

Patient Care – Staff professional education is provided to Medical Center employees. These opportunities are essential to meet the complex demands of today’s healthcare environment and keep pace with rapid advances in technology and the delivery of care. Educational experiences include conferences, lectures, and hands-on clinical training.

Can I designate where I want my gift to be allocated?

YES! You may designate your Annual Giving Program gift as unrestricted (to be used where the need is greatest) or choose to have it support one of our three major initiatives: patient , education or research. As a special tribute, you may also personalize your gift by making it in memory or honor of someone.

Can I make a gift in honor of someone at Maine Medical Center?

Many of our patients and families express a profound gratitude for the care they or their loved ones received during their stay at Maine Medical Center. Often they wonder what can be done to “give back” or honor those who made a difference in the care they received. Maine Medical Center established the Healthcare Heroes Program to offer patients and families an opportunity to show gratitude to the physician, nurse or other caregiver who played a special role in their care at the hospital.
