The Portland Identification and Early Referral (PIER) Program is the only early psychosis program in the entire state, and a leader in community education, research, and family-focused treatment
We believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality care, no matter where they live in Maine. For this reason, Maine Medical Center is working to identify, engage, and treat teens and young adults with psychotic-spectrum concerns before the window of opportunity closes. Together we can help to reduce their risk of suicide, substance abuse, homelessness, incarceration, or long-term physical and mental health issues.
There is a small window of opportunity when intervention and team-based care can fundamentally improve the course of a young person’s life.
Funding is a decisive factor in the PIER Program’s ability to continue serving hundreds of families. Now with heightened mental health needs and inadequate reimbursement from private or public insurance, your support will help us reach more teens, young adults, and their families in Maine when the timing is most critical.
